Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take requests?

Yes, and not only do we take requests, we encourage it. Once you book with us, we provide you with a link to your “Event Details and Music Request Form”. You’ll be presented questions such as “Who are your favorite artists or songs”, “What is on the ‘Do Not Play List’”, and a list of genres to check off such as Top 40, Hip Hop, 70s, 80s, rock and more. Feel free to request a sample form to get a better idea of how easy we make this for you.

What type of music do you play?

The short answer is “Everything”. We are considered “mixed-format DJs”, meaning we can play to any crowd, genre, era and style. Having performed at thousands of events over the years, we know how to read the room and cater to you and your guests. And, keep in mind, we’ll have spent time with you in the weeks and months prior to you event, discussing music requests, direction and other event details which will all be considered when prepping playlists and such for your event.

Do you provide AV, speakers, and lighting?

Of course. And, unlike many DJ companies who cut corners by using subpar speakers and AV equipment, our philosophy is that our clients deserve the absolute best.

We only use the most innovative and sophisticated speakers, DJ gear and lighting. Our setups provide a minimalist aesthetic so as to not “take over” from your event’s style and decor. Feel free to inquire on additional details on system specs and/or power needs.

Can we come see you at an event?

We want you to be confident in us and will do whatever can to provide you with a level of comfort so we can just focus on the fun stuff.

Although we don’t believe that having you visit another client’s event to be the best method to choose a DJ, we are completely open to it. Please keep in mind we will require the approval of the client and you will likely have 5-10 minutes to hang out at this person’s event if they agree to it. For this reason, and in our two decades of experience, your time would be better spent meeting with us, listening to mixes, and speaking with past clients about their experience with us.

After an initial phone call to get a little more information about your event, we will send you links to mixes and other background information on our company and our talent.

In addition, we’d love the opportunity to meet you in person. Our office is conveniently located in West Los Angeles but we’re also happy to meet you at a location convenient for you. And, in many cases, our clients choose to schedule a video call which we are happy to set up anytime.

Do your DJs also emcee and make announcements?

At Unite, we pride ourselves on being authentic and “real”. Almost two decades ago, when the “weird, cheesy DJs” were the only real option, we knew that people wanted something better.

For almost 20 years, some of Los Angeles’ most elite event planners and socialites took notice and Unite Entertainment has been known as the “cool DJs” ever since.

Most of the MCing necessary for an event is a simple announcement here and there such as introducing a toast or letting your guests know it’s time for cake cutting. Sure, there will be one or two moments in your event where that extra bit of enthusiasm is necessary but a great DJ uses his skills of reading the crowd and playing the right music at the right time to set the energy and tone of event element of your event.

With Unite Entertainment at your event, you and your guests will remember the music and not some annoying DJ chatting away on the microphone all night. Ugh, the idea of it makes us cringe too.
